A Vintage Affair
Message in a bottle.
Somewhere in the cobwebbed cellar of the decrepit antebellum mansion known as Ballineen are the legendary Lee bottles -- and Austin Gillespie is there to find them. The last thing on his mind is hot and heavy romance with handsome bad boy Jeff Brady. But Jeff has other ideas and, after one intoxicating night, so does Austin.
The only problem is they have different ideas. Jeff doesnít believe in love at first sight, and even if he did, heís buried more deeply in the closet than those famous missing bottles of vintage Madeira. Popping a cork or two is one thing. Popping the question? No way. No how.
Unless Austin is ready to give up on another dream, heís going to have to figure out how to make sure the lights go on -- and stay on -- in Georgia.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
I love the background of the wine industry and how much of its history was integrated into the story. I could smell the aroma and taste the Chardonnay, Merlot or even a vintage Madeira and wanted to sitÜ in a comfortable chair with a glass of my favourite red while reading this book because the ambience was so seductive. If you enjoy wine this would be an excellent book to pick up. A Vintage Affair is on my list of recommended reads as Josh LanyonÌs excellent prose brings the story and characters to vibrant three dimensional life. In case youÌre wondering, there definitely is a HEA in the book so all of the romance readers will love the ending. There was pretty much something to enjoy on every page.

Josh Lanyon has earned the reputation he has by being bloody good at what he does. Well deserved, and I confess, I'm kinda sorry I didn't take the plunge sooner. I've got a lot of catching up to do. My Recommendation: If you're a Josh Lanyon fan, or, like me, a neophyte, A Vintage Affair is a must read, with a definite feel-good flair... And I still want to write like him when I grow up.

Reading Josh Lanyon's A Vintage Affair was like being dropped into a skewed version of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams and the 1944 film Arsenic and Old Lace written by Joseph Kesselring and directed by Frank Capra. If you have a thing for wine or the old south (even though the story takes place in modern times), you'll love this story. Austin is a very sweet man and even though Jeff has a few hang-ups he will make a great partner for him. With a touch of mystery, some very quirky characters one m/m and one m/f/m scene this is a fun and easy read.

It's precious rare to find a book that crackles with an energy all its own; one where the characters and story are so vivid, the world of the book wraps itself around you and lets you become lost in its pages. Josh Lanyon is one of those authors who, regardless of the story, always tells a captivating tale that draws the reader right in. In A Vintage Affair I was quite surprised at the turn taken fairly early on but then that Ìs one of the things I enjoy when reading anything by Josh Lanyon; definitely a twist or two to keep the reader eagerly engaged.

I really liked getting to know Austin and Jeff. Overall, A Vintage Affair is a charming blend of mystery, romance, and finding yourself. It's definitely a book that any lover of male/male romance should read and own.

A Vintage Affair is a bit different than some of the books Josh Lanyon has written. The plot, with its mystery and Gothic feeling, was intriguing with many layers to that plot. It was fascinating to watch those layers unfold. Jeff was so far into the closet while Austin, after having so many disappointments, just wanted a light in his life. What happens when their paths cross could be a beautiful thing to behold if only Jeff allows Austin in. Does he? To find out, you will need to read A Vintage Affair, a book designed to keep us reading until the very last drop is consumed. Josh Lanyon once again shows us the depth and versatility of his talent with another winning story.

I loved the choice of Austin's profession as a master of wine and how Mr. Lanyon integrated snippets of information into the story. For someone with little knowledge of that portion of the wine industry, it was an eye-opening part of Austin's professional background. At times, the descriptions of the wine and its various components were so vivid I swear I could smell the different aromas that made up each bottle."
